The suspect who allegedly shot an NYPD officer in the face in Queens last night has been charged with attempted murder.

According to the Associated Press, 35-year-old Demetrius Blackwell was taken into custody after reportedly shooting Officer Brian Moore in the face in Queens Village yesterday evening. NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton told the Associated Press that the 25-year-old Moore was shot when he and Officer Erik Jansen, his partner, pulled up beside a man who was "adjusting his waistband suspiciously." According to Bratton, Blackwell fired at least two shots at the unmarked police car.

Moore was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where the Associated Press reports that he's in critical, but stable condition. Blackwell was arrested near the scene of the crime, and is expected to be arraigned this afternoon. He currently faces two counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
