Reese Witherspoon returned to Saturday Night Live for the first time since she first hosted 2001, way back when her career was starting to blow up off of Legally Blonde. This week's episode was an uneven one, but it did have its moments. The biggest one, fittingly, involved a whole lot of moms.

MOTHER'S DAY MONOLOGUE
One of the best monologues of this season turned out to be one where the host did the least heavy lifting. Everybody's real-life mother showed up, and the cast took turns apologizing for terrible things they did when they were younger. Unsurprisingly, Kyle Mooney's was the weirdest (OK, he ties with Beck Bennett).
WEEKEND UPDATE: GIRL AT A PARTY

This was Witherspoon's best moment of the night. She was a natural as Cecily Strong's sidekick, as the girl you wish you hadn't started a conversation with at a party became the pair of girls you wish you hadn't started a conversation with at a party. Amber, AMBER!
GOP COLD OPEN
Get to know the nation's Republican leaders, like Rand Paul, "a small man who loves small government — and fat blunts," when Strong turns the Southern Leadership Conference into a NBA-style team introduction.
BOSS IMPRESSIONS

Everyone thinks they have a terrible boss, but the people at this office really have a terrible boss. Like put this guy in jail immediately terrible. This will make you laugh (although you might not feel great about it).
