According to an attorney for the man who reportedly shot at George Zimmerman yesterday, his client did so in an attempt to defend himself.

Yesterday afternoon, Zimmerman, 31, was shot at by Matthew Apperson in Lake Mary, Fla. Zimmerman sustained minor injuries after Apperson shot at the window of Zimmerman's vehicle, shattering the glass. According to CNN, Apperson's lawyer said he was simply defending himself after Zimmerman waived a gun at him:

Apperson's attorney, Mark NeJame, said his client acted in self defense.

What happened today, he was legally justified to do, NeJame said Monday.

But West, Zimmerman's lawyer, denied that his client waved a gun. George absolutely denies pointing a gun, displaying a gun -- no aggressive movement toward him at all, West said.

CNN adds that police in Lake Mary said that Apperson is the same person who called 911 last year claiming Zimmerman had made him feel threatened. At the moment, no arrests have been made, nor have any charges been filed.
