A Kid Found a Loaded Gun Left in the Bathroom in John Boehner's Suite

You know, the usual.

Capitol Police officers keep accidentally leaving their loaded guns around the Capitol building. You know, no big deal. According to a new report, a little kid even found one left in a bathroom in House Speaker John Boehner's suite by the speaker's security detail. In January, a gun was left in the Capitol's visitor center bathroom—it wasn't loaded but the magazine was shoved in the toilet seat cover dispenser. The officer who left it was a member of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's security detail. (You can see a photo here.)

The third "problematic place" a gun was found, as the report put it, was "in plain sight" by a janitor in the Capitol building. Gun control groups are obviously not thrilled with this, but the incidents are apparently still under investigation. A Capitol Police spokeswoman said they "do not discuss internal personnel matters," but that "the Department takes very seriously all breaches of Department rules and has established policies that address such matters." We feel so much better.
