Add Empire of the Dead to the list of zombie series coming to TV that already includes Walking Dead spinoff Fear the Walking Dead, an animal zombie show on Animal Planet, and the recently successful zombie detective series iZombie

This one, however, involves zombies vs. vampires vs. humans.

Empire of the Dead, written by O.G. zombie master George Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead), was a 15-part comic book series for Marvel that came out in 2014.  Here's Marvel's synopsis from when it was released:

Welcome to New York City years after the undead plague has erupted—but just because Manhattan has been quarantined, don’t think that everyone inside is safe! Not only do flesh-eaters roam within Manhattan, but there’s another ancient predator about to take a bite out of the Big Apple! Plus: It’s a terrorizing team-up in variant cover form when the Zombie Godfather unites with the Zombie King.

Demarest, the company behind Tusk, and A Most Wanted Man announced today at Cannes that it's working to make Empire of the Dead into a TV series written by Romero, Variety reported. There aren't many details yet, but one sure way to make sure TV viewers don't get zombied out is to throw vampires into the mix.
