It wasn't an April Fools' Day joke, though.

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's Lifetime movie definitely wasn't an April Fools' Day joke, but now it isn't going to happen anyway. After news of A Deadly Adoption hit the press Ferrell says he and Wiig decided not to go forward with the project.

"We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public," Ferrell said in a statement to EW. "Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film."

The "high-stakes dramatic thriller" is reportedly already finished and was set to air early this summer, so we can't help but wonder what would stop Lifetime from airing the movie if they wanted to go ahead without Ferrell and Wiig's blessing. As some have pointed out, it's not likely that the two would work with Lifetime anyway. So what's to lose from pissing them off? It's also conceivable that the two could simply change their minds (fingers crossed).

If A Deadly Adoption does indeed stay shelved we have no one to blame but ourselves.
