A lot can change in six months. It was only last August that Tyler Perry expressed second thoughts about his role in Gone Girl. The hipster filmmaker told New York Magazine in August he wouldn't have signed on for the movie had he known the book was so popular. Apparently he has no such quarrels with mainstream movies now, as he's signed onto the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

Perry will play Baxter Stockman, the scientist who's responsible for creating the Mousers. The character was briefly portrayed by Kelvin Todd Freeman in the 2014 film.

Both Megan Fox and Will Arnett are reprising their roles, with Stephan Amell as a new addition. No other returning cast members have been confirmed, and plot details are still under wraps.

TMNT2 hits theaters June 3, 2016.
