Only because it was on Twitter.

Director Joss Whedon, known for strong female characters like The AvengersBlack Widow and Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, criticized Jurassic World’s first clip because of its dated female character portrayal calling it “sexist.” Variety just caught up with Whedon, who now said he regrets throwing shade because it’s “bad form.”

Whedon said, “I don’t ever say things about other people’s work that are negative,” while adding that it’s “not what a gentleman would do.”

Because Whedon’s not a robot, he said he tweeted out of “frustration” after feeling that “something was problematic” about the exchange between Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the clip.

Whedon reflected that his comments should’ve been kept off Twitter and instead kept for catty “dinner party conversation.”

Big-ups to Whedon for making the critique in the first place, and although he may regret being so public about it at least he didn’t wuss out and delete his tweet afterwards, or worse, take back his comments.
