It's called "Unlocked", and TechCrunch calls it the "Amazon Prime, but for apps." The idea is this: through the Amazon Appstore (currently only available for Android users), the ecommerce giant will make hundreds of apps that usually cost money available to Unlocked users for free. What about those apps that get you with pesky in-app purchases, you say? Yeah, even those purchases will come at no extra charge.

It sounds awesome, and it is, but using "Unlocked" is a little tricky. For one, it is only available on Android phones, and for another, users will have to access "Unlocked" through the flagship Amazon app, which is kind of annoying.

But the advantages are obvious—namely, cool things you don't have to pay for. Amazon hasn't publicized all the apps that will be featured through "Unlocked," but according to a leaked internal presentation, it might include Sonic Dash, Monument Valley, Office Suite 8 + PDF Converter, and Ultimate Guitar Tabs & Chords. So you'll be able to play video games, get work done, and jam out on the guitar, unhindered by obnoxious fees.

"Unlocked:" it's one small step for man, one giant leap for gamers who love easily accessing PDF files on their phone, and playing killer riffs on the guitar.
