Will Smith seems to be feeling a little gun shy since After Earth tanked two years ago. The star says he's going to skip town so that he won't get any updates on his new movie, Focus, which opens this weekend.

“I’m probably going to leave town for a week or so, so I don’t get sucked back into the machine. I can’t allow the box office success, or the lack thereof, to determine my self-image," Smith told Variety.  “I am probably going to get out and, you know, not get the hourly update from Cleveland…’It was up 10%!’ I am just going to completely stay away from it.”

Projections say that the movie is going to do OK, but right now Smith is might be thinking about the way that After Earth made $60.5 million domestically on a $130 million budget.

Smith's 21 movies have made a combined $2.7 billion.
