10 Things You Didn't Know About Margot Robbie (With the Requisite 10 Hot GIFs)

Marty Scorsese's hedonistic finance bro epic was her breakout, yes, but it wasn't the first US role Margot booked. For all those who give every new promising TV show a shot before it blows up, they first saw Margot in ABC's short-lived period drama Pan Am. The show was billed as broadcast TV's answer to Mad Men, but Margot would later admit the writing was on the wall after plots began to devolve into a much more soapy, melodramatic narrative typical of most ABC dramas.

She aced her audition for The Wolf of Wall Street basically by duffing Leonardo DiCaprio. While running through a tense scene between Jordan Belfort and his wife Naomi, with only Martin Scorsese and the casting director in the room, Robbie feared she was bricking her big chance. So she took Leo's improvisational cues, but instead of ad-libbing lines, she threw in a slap that wasn't in the script. For a minute, she thought it was the final nail in the coffin of a weak audition. Instead Leo and Marty burst into laughter and thought it was brilliant.

Turning up in auditions seems to be Margot's wave. Fresh off of slapping Leo to land her breakout role, she scored the co-lead gig in Will Smith's Focus when she went off-script and called him (in-character) a dick. Apparently the move became an inside joke within the cast and crew to the point of becoming a running gag in the actual movie.

Before landing the role of Harley Quinn in DC's highly anticipated Suicide Squad, Margot auditioned for Susan Storm in this year's upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Obviously the honor went to Kate Mara, but one could argue Margot won out with the flashier role.

The official title was "Sandwich Artist." Nowadays, she says she can't bring herself to walk into a Subway. But not out of embarrassment (or, ya know, cuz she's too rich for fast food footlongs). She just can't help but be super judgmental and nitpicky when a Subway employee isn't respecting the artistry of her sandwich. Her respect for the craft and expectations are just too damn high after having been on the other side of the counter.

Before Pan Am got canceled, Robbie and the cast put together a softball team wherein she was the de facto Coach Taylor. Sports movie pep talks, face-painting, and post-win turn-ups at the beer garden were the norm. She's also a huge hockey fan and plays in a league in LA. In other words, she's the perfect guy's girl.

Margot reportedly "doesn't talk about her personal life." (Don't they all?). But of course, rumors persist. The gossip blogs perpetuated a fling with the Fresh Prince himself during filming, but more likely are the rumors of her and assistant director Tom Ackerley. It's too boring to not be true.
