The character of Barron was created with Jackson in mind.

Screenwriter Jane Goldman has created a new character specifically for Samuel L. Jackson, who has a supporting role in her adaptation of Kingsman: The Secret Service (out this week). The character is Barron, and he does not appear in Ransom Riggs' novel series Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, but he will appear in the film.

Riggs' first Peregrine novel focused on old photographs of levitating girls and disappearing boys that a teenager is given by his deceased grandfather; the boy discovers the peculiar home in Wales and peculiar things happen. USA Today described the book as "Tim Burton-esque" and, fittingly, Tim Burton is set to direct. The young boy will be played by Asa Butterfield (Hugo), and Miss Peregrine will be played by Eva Green (Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For).

As for Barron, this is not the first time in Tim Burton's adaptations of popular books that a new character is being introduced. From Batman to last year's Big Eyes, the director always needs to add a character to make things just a little more "Burton-esque." We'll see how peculiar that is on March 4, 2016.
