According to Deadline, Ridley Scott, who directed the original Alien from 1979 will produce the film.
There is no script and there are almost zero details on what the movie will be as far as a continuance of the franchise or a reboot, though it will reportedly take place after Prometheus 2, which also hasn't been written yet.
There hasn't been a legit new installment in the Alien franchise since 1997's Alien Resurrection, or even a crossover since 2007's Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. The 2012 release Prometheus, which wasn't exactly an Alien movie, but took place in the Alien universe, was the closest we've had recently.
