Not to say we told you so, but we called Jake Gyllenhaal’s current reign of excellence. He ended last year with Nightcrawler, a must-see, and recently we told you about his upcoming transformative role—Seriously, dude is ripped—as a boxer in Antoine Fuqua’s Southpaw. Looks like Gyllenhaal will continue to pull no punches with The Man Who Made it Snow, a biopic where he'll reunite with his Southpaw director to play notorious cocaine smuggler Max Mermelstein.

Mermelstein, who passed in 2008, was thought to be the only American smuggler in the Colombian drug trade, working with them during the ‘70s and early ‘80s until his 1985 arrest. It was then he was given the option of ratting out his partners or doing extensive jail time. He of course pulled a Henry Hill and became an informant, in exchange for a two year prison sentence. The hatred for Mermelstein was documented in Cocaine Cowboys, for which he wasn't interviewed.

We're expecting another Gyllenhaal transformation for this one and hopefully it gets recognized.
