Screening Fifty Shades of Grey—a sex and BDSM filled film, alongside the SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water movie—Grey’s polar opposite, makes a for a dumb move, but a funny one at that. For this we have to thank one California drive-in theater that figured showing both at the same time would be a-okay.

Concord's West Wind Solano Drive-In is the culprit for this fiasco. You see, the screens are separate, one in the north area of the drive-in and another in the west, but both screens are easily visible from certain areas, including, the play area. And not the kind of play area Mr. Grey would enjoy.

One mother, Deborah Powell, and her dozen kids, were surprised when they went to watch the new Sponge Bob movie when nearby they could see Mr.Grey having his way with Anastasia Steele. Powell described the horror she saw to a local news station: “At the time, there was a woman being slapped, naked, bound up.” That’s when Powell jumped into action, “…We had to have our children close their eyes. I could see another car behind us that had children in there with their eyes closed." The mother and her kids eventually left, saying looking at the other screen was “too tempting.” Can you imagine the awkward car ride back home as parents tried to dodge questions kids had about the R-rated romp?

The incident plays right into the Fifty Shades of Grey and Sponge Bob Square Pants mashups clever fans have been talking about, because of scenes like these:
