The Sony hack hasn't just made for good online gossip, Joel McHale has made it good TV (for his living room, and for fans of The Soup). One of the more recently leaked e-mail exchanges was between McHale, the former star of Community, and Fayanne, the assistant to Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko.

The below correspondence took place in May, just a few days after the always threatened termination of Community, had occurred.  McHale sought retribution via a new television. Presumably to watch whatever NBC determined was more watchable than his awesome show.

In May, McHale wrote:

Hello Fayanne,

It's Joel McHale. You might remember me from such canceled Sony tv shows as—Community.

Sad.

Very sad.

So when I was talking to Steve about the show ending last Friday, I asked about a discount on a Sony tv. He said of course. He's the greatest as you know. I didn't want to bother him with the specific details of the screen I want so I thought I would bother you. I hope that is it cool.

It's below. You can check with Steve obviously if this all sounds strange.

I'm not sure how this all works but I'm happy to send a credit card number wherever necessary.

Thanks Fayanne. I'm very much going to miss working at Sony.

Cheers

Joel

The television in question was a 65-inch X950B 4K Ultra HD

1.

From Mosko's response (below), it'd appear that McHale got what he wanted.

how much is it? just get it...put it against community deal w money later

That's an $8,000 TV. And McHale doesn't care that you know. He'd already defended this on Twitter:

Last night on The Soup, McHale made a joke at his own and NBC's expense (which aired Community and constantly moved it around and threatened to cancel the cult TV show). After E! moved The Soup back to its original Friday night 10pm time slot, McHale quipped:

"Thank you, E! TV and our parent company NBC. This is the least you could do since you don't make TVs on which I can get a discount. Not like the Sony 84" X95B flagship 4K Ultra HDTV."

Your move, NBC.

Meanwhile, McHale continued the regularly scheduled "Soup Awards", handing out such Reality TV honors as Best Pooping (Unscripted), Best Japanese Show That Talks About Gay Issues in the USA, and the coveted Entertainer of The Year.
