A downtown San Diego courthouse was shut down yesterday morning after a sex toy was mistaken for a bomb.

According to ABC 10, the San Diego Fire Department said that an "egg-shaped piece of aluminum attached to an electrical cord" was seen on a patio at Edward J. Schwartz U.S. Courthouse. Convinced that it was some sort of explosive device, authorities evacuated the building.

The are remained closed while a brief investigation was conducted, and was later reopened after authorities confirmed that the device was simply a sex toy.

Here's the lingering question, though: Who brings a sex toy to a courthouse?
