The old adage is true: no good deed goes unpunished.
At least, that is certainly true for 54-year-old Lee Vern Cook of Crestview, Fla. The man wanted to visit a friend in the ICU of the North Okaloosa Medical Center on Christmas Eve, which is certainly a kind and magnanimous thing to do. Perhaps even nicer was the fact that he brought a gift with him, ensuring that his friend would have a lovely Christmas despite his unfortunate circumstances.
The gift? A shiny new crack rock.
Cook’s buddy managed to set himself on fire while attempting to smoke his crack, a situation made all the more dangerous by the fact that he was also hooked up to an oxygen tank. Cook was arrested for both the crack as well as the loaded gun he happened to have on him when he went into the hospital.
As for the smoker? The good news is he’s out of the ICU. The bad news is that he’s now in the burn unit.
