The Armed Forces Medical Examiner System has released the results of their autopsy of Michael Brown, and their conclusions are very similar to those of the local and private examiners who also analyzed the teen who was shot and killed by Ferguson, Mo. police officer Darren Wilson.

The Department of Justice had been the ones to request the autopsy in the first place, and the results were among the wave of documents released yesterday following the grand jury’s decision not to indict Wilson. The report says that Brown died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds and severe head and chest injuries, and that a wound on Brown’s right hand was consistent with a close range discharge of a firearm.

The autopsy will be one of the documents studied in the Justice Department’s civil rights investigation into the July incident, which has renewed discussions about the relationship between African-Americans and police and spurred a national series of protests.
