Barack Obama Is Stoked "The Interview" Is Hitting Theaters

He strongly opposed canceling the release.

Last week Barack Obama sonned Sony's decision to pull The Interview. Now that Sony will allow independent theaters to screen the controversial film, the president is pleased. A White House statement released hours after the announcement strongly supports the decision not to let the communists win:

"The president applauds Sony’s decision to authorize screenings of the film. As the president made clear, we’re a country that believes in free speech and the right of artistic expression. The decision made by Sony and participating theaters allows people to make their own choices about the film and we welcome that outcome."

Obama also has to be stoked he won't have to venture to the U.S. Capitol to watch the film. If Sony took up a congressman's offer to screen the film there, the president might have been seated awkwardly next to John Boehner.
