How close were we to finding out what happens when Groot learns the D.E.N.N.I.S. system? According to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, very close.

As part of an interview that didn’t make the cut for Chris Pratt’s GQ “Men of the Year” profile, Gunn revealed that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Glenn Howerton was nearly the choice to play Star Lord. “Glenn came along a little bit later, but there was a good chance that, if I didn’t cast Chris, that I would’ve cast Glenn Howerton in the role.”

Try wrapping your head around a world where the guy who believes in the legal power of the implication becoming a hero to children everywhere. This is not to say he couldn’t pull it off, but Howerton’s nine seasons on Always Sunny haven’t exactly given him the best reputation when it comes to his character’s morals.

Although, he does have some experience as a superhero; after all, he is Day Man, fighter of the Night Man, Champion of the Sun, master of karate and friendship for everyone.
