A state senator from Missouri who famously confronted the Ferguson police chief in the days after the Michael Brown shooting tweeted today that someone was shooting in her direction in Ferguson.

The legislator, Maria Chappelle Nadal, who represents the St. Louis suburb where the unarmed Brown was killed in August, said the shots rang out when she got out of her car.

One person was hit in the shooting and taken the hospital, police said. The shots reportedly did not appear to be intended for Nadal.

Back in August, Nadal gained attention after being tear-gassed while "sitting peacefully" during protests, then later telling the Ferguson police chief "I just wanted to know if I was going to be gassed again, like I was on Monday night."
