It’s no secret that Los Angeles is a haven for artists. The city’s Downtown Art Walk is a right of passage, not just for artists themselves, but for any artistically minded person who resides there. But a few miles west of where these monthly excursions pop up is another neighborhood of burgeoning craftsmen and entrepreneurs that just might be giving Downtown a run for its money: The Fairfax District. The cultural relevancy emanating from Fairfax is so distinct that it may soon take the crown for the most vibrant creative scene in the city. And on Friday, Oct. 17, at 10 p.m. EST/PST, Pivot TV will premiere a new unique series that focuses on this thriving new epicenter: Welcome to Fairfax

Welcome to Fairfax is a new series on Pivot TV that takes viewers behind-the-scenes of this growing artistic community, and gives them an insider’s look at the Fairfax district from the perspective of seven young game changers who inhabit it. Among these rising stars are: Mizzle, a fashion entrepreneur and social activist who runs street wear line Just Be Cool from his storefront YOUth; Felicia, who works tirelessly to become the entertainment industry’s leading celebrity make-up artist, while simultaneously preparing to become a parent; Tori, a newcomer to Fairfax, who is pursuing new creative ventures and has moved past a previous violent relationship; Jay Ughh, Young Hawaii Slim, and Corzillah, who together comprise the rap group Chill Black Guys, and are becoming hip-hop mainstays while, at the same time, internal struggles threaten the group’s very existence; and BMXer Gabe Brooks, who is working to be the next break-out action sports star, while putting his gang-related past behind him.

Welcome to Fairfax premieres Friday, Oct. 17, at 10 p.m. on Pivot TV. But for those of you who are amped to get in on the Fairfax experience sooner, Complex and Pivot TV will be hosting a party celebrating the show’s premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Fairfax district’s own YOUth. The evening is invite-only, but you can RSVP to get your name on the list by clicking here. Don’t wait—RSVP now to ensure your place for an evening of food, drinks, and fun with the cast and crew of Welcome to Fairfax. And be sure to watch the premiere on Oct. 17, on Pivot TV!
