Lena Dunham spoke about her new book Not That Kind of Girl at the New Yorker Festival last night, and somehow the topic of that day's Amanda Bynes Twitter confessional and subsequent hospitalization came up. Dunham thinks Bynes is actually kind of like her Girls character, Hannah.

I don’t know if I'm the only one who’s been closely following Amanda Bynes’s tweets today. She’s clearly off her medication, the whole situation is really bad… But she did say something kind of similar [to Hannah] which was, ‘I’m not crazy, I’m actually the one who knows everything that’s happening.’ I texted [Jenny Konner] and said, ‘Maybe I’m nuts, but I think Amanda Bynes is actually kind of a great writer. Do you know what I mean?’ She was like, ‘I don’t know what you mean!’

Bynes tweeted yesterday that her father had sexually abused her, then deleted the tweets and said the microchip in her brain made her do it. She has since been hospitalized involuntarily for at least 72 hours. And we're with Jenny, Lena—unless it turns out this is all some sort of messed up Joaquin Phoenix performance art. Here's the latest on her situation:
