"Gone Girl" and "Annabelle" Set Box Office Records

Gone Girl and Annabelle both premiered last night and have set a box-office record for October Fridays. The Conjuring sequel-of-sorts grabbed the number one spot with $15.5 million, with the Gillian Flynn-adaptation at number two with $13.2 million. It looks like Gone Girl will win the entire weekend, too.

The top ten-grossing films from yesterday hit $46 million, which is pretty good in the days of on-demand and Netflix. It's also impressive for horror films (though Gone Girl isn't really one in the way that Annabelle is). Denzel Washington's The Equalizer was number three, followed by The Maze Runner. Can we get a comedy up in here
