FX Announces the Obvious: "American Horror Story" Will Be Back for Season 5

FX has renewed "American Horror Story," its most watched show ever, for a fifth season.

This week's edition of inevitable TV renewals features American Horror Story. After the season four premiere became the highest rated FX show of all-time, the network has announced American Horror Story will come back for a fifth season in 2015

"The American Horror Story anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history," FX CEO John Landgraf said, "not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition. With Ryan Murphy and his partners at the helm, the show's success is not surprising. AHS continues to deliver amazing stories, a brilliant troupe of actors led by Jessica Lange, and a visual style unlike any other on TV."

Like last week's renewal of The Walking Dead, this was a no-brainer. One of the few things that's actually up in the air is the next cast. Lange has announced this season will be her last, but Murphy is still hoping she'll change her mind and return for season five.

And then there's the matter of the setting. The show has already visited some of the most frightening places on Earth: a haunted house, a mental institution, a boarding school full of witches, and a freak show. There are still plenty of other terrifying settings, though, that we'd suggest for season five:

  • The Oakland Raider's Black Hole

  • Any room with a porcelain doll in it

  • My grandmother's basement (for more reasons than the one immediately above)

  • The dark side of the moon

  • The graveyard shift at the Krusty Krab

  • Wherever David Blaine is right now

  • A Hopsin music video

Holler, FX, if a writer's chair opens up.
