Kevin Smith says he's found funding to make "Clerks III."

Despite The Weinstein Company passing on Clerks III this summer, Kevin Smith has remained committed to making the threequel. Now we see his persistence has paid off, as Smith has announced he's found financing to go ahead and make the third film. And he attributes it all to Tusk, his most recent project.

"A year and change ago I was desperately trying to get Clerks III made for the 20th anniversary and that desperation—it must have reeked of it because I couldn't fucking find money and shit," Smith said on his most recent podcast. "But it was Tusk, people going, 'Holy fuck, what else do you have?' and I was like, 'Clerks III,' and they're like 'done.' So everybody's that's like, 'he failed, he failed,' I'm like 'thank you, I failed into doing Clerks III.'"

It's hard to believe anyone doubted Smith and another Clerks film, but we guess that's Hollywood. We're just stoked to get another dose of the Clerks crew—especially Jay and Silent Bob, since they were somehow passed over for True Detective season two.
