The Expendables 3 was facing a tough fight before it even reached theatres. Prior to its release last Friday the movie leaked online and was watched more than 5 million times. There's no doubt that was a major catalyst behind the threequel flopping to the tune of $15.9 million on its opening weekend.
You also have to consider that Expendables 3 just wasn't that good. Critics appreciated The Expendables 2 for what it was: a b-grade action movie. But this time around the cheap action (based on quality; not budget) lost its magic. Rotten Tomatoes rounded up an embarrassing 35-percent approval rating from critics.
