Microsoft has seen the sales of their Xbox One sales double since launching a Kinect-less bundle back on June 9.

Microsoft has confirmed that the new $399 console has been a boon for the company since the decision to drop the voice/motion/camera peripheral. The Kinect is still being sold separately as a stand-alone accessory. Microsoft has dropped the Kinect in the face of mounting criticism that the device wasn't nearly as mandatory as initially claimed.

When originally released in November of 2013, the hefty price tag of $499, coupled with the Kinect as an essential component of the console saw sales of Sony's PS4 console soar thanks to a lower price tag and sleeker design.
