A Transportation Security Administration agent in Orlando recently got a much-needed geography lesson after refusing to believe that the District of Columbia was a place that actually exists.
Reporter Justin Gray encountered an unexpected obstacle at an Orlando International Airport when a TSA agent asked to see his passport because he didn't recognize his driver's license. A puzzled Gray was without a passport, but soon realized that the poor agent had never heard of the District of Columbia, our nation's capital.

Gray eventually resolved the issue by speaking to a more geographically-inclined TSA superior. A spokesperson for the agency swooped in to save as much face as possible, explaining that officers are trained to spot "fraudulent documents," which a valid driver's license most certainly is not.
This is a teachable moment, so now the TSA can train officers on maps of the United States, valid forms of identification from the states and the District of Columbia.
