As we make our way around this flat circle known as time, more and more is coming out about the second season of HBO's darling True Detective.

First off, those rumors about Colin Farrell becoming one of the season's four leads are all but confirmed, according to the up-and-coming but reliable site Film Divider. Farrell, along with other rumored lead Taylor Kitsch, will reportedly make up two-thirds of the investigative triangle this season focuses on — two men and a woman from different cities and law enforcement bodies will come together to uncover mass corruption.

In terms of the investigation, here's an excerpt from Film Divider's plot description:

None

Anyone getting a Chinatown feel from this?

Keeping in line with True Detective's overall aesthetic, all of the characters are going to be totally messed up. The younger lead will reportedly play a California Highway Patrol officer who was "suspended for sexually exploiting a young woman he pulled over." On top of that, Farrell's character will have "cocaine and anger management" issues, while the female lead will also have a troubled past. So, par for the course.

For those of you doing math at home, so far we've only covered three of the reported four central characters. That fourth lead will allegedly go to this season's villain — so start making your casting bets accordingly.

Now, all of this is still unverified, and creator Nic Pizzolatto doesn't seem like he'd be beneath pulling the rug out from under us. But it just sounds good enough to be true, right?
