The creators of the web series Charlie The Abusive Teddy and Acting School Academy, in which an R-rated teddy bear smokes, drinks, and sleeps around are suing SethMacFarlane for copyright infringement saying he stole the premise of their 2009 and 2010 web series for the 2012 hit comedy Ted.
The suit lists similarities in both characters’ personalities, as evidenced through their social media presence.
Charlie’s creators, who form Bengal Mangle productions,go into specifics comparing scenarios from their web series, which aired on YouTube, Funny or Die, and other websites, to MacFarlane’s film.
Universal, which released Ted, didn’t comment and calls to MacFarlane’s agent went unanswered.
