The PlayStation Vita is one of Sony's most popular gaming technologies on the market. Apparently, it may even be a little too popular. Yesterday afternoon, a GameStop clerk in Orlando, FL was held at gunpoint by a man demanding money and a console. In order to avoid further conflict, the clerk handed him cash and a PS Vita.
The amount of money remains undisclosed. All that is known about the robber is that he was a Hispanic man in his late-20s who took off from the scene in a mid-2000s silver Nissan Murano.
Currently, a PS Vita in good condition is selling for about $150 on eBay. In the state of Florida, an armed robbery constitutes a felony in first degree. The maximum penalties for this crime are 30 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. You don't need to have a degree in cost-benefit analysis to realize that this crime was not worth the possible time.
If you have any information about crime, call the Orlando Police Department at 407-246-2403.
