Who knew plays from the 1800s could be so salacious?
Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain will co-star in Miss Julie, the big-screen adaption of the famous play first staged in Sweden in 1888. In it, Farrell plays a butler who gets romantically involved with the daughter of his boss, an Irish count. The entire film takes place over one night, and also stars Samantha Morton as the house’s cook/Farrell’s fiancé.
If the film is anything like the preview, things are going to get really dark and twisted. I mean, Farrell starts licking Chastain’s shoes. And that voice...so creepy.
Directed by Liv Ullman—who has been nominated for five Golden Globes for her acting work—Miss Julie will make its debut at the Toronto Film Festival.
