Tornadoes ripped through Nebraska yesterday, killing one and injured dozens more, officials say.

According to USA Today, one person from Pilger, Neb. was brought to Norfolk'Faith Regional Medical Center, and as many as 16 more were taken there as well with injuries. Gregg Moeller of Wisner told the Omaha World-Herald that it felt like "God dragged two fingernails across the the land."

USA Today adds that Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger believes roughly "50 to 75 percent" of Pilger sustained heavy damage. Unger noted that the town's local school is probably damaged beyond repair, calling the entire scene "total devastation."
