The flawlessly animation cel-styled RPG The Banner Saga – known for looking like a cross between Skyrim, Disney's 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty and Ralph Bakshi's 1978 animated adaptation of Lord of the Rings - may be coming to consoles. Following news this week that developer Stoic Games will be releasing the game on iPad and Android tablets this summer, programmer John Watson said the team hopes to release console ports of the game before the end of the year.

"The ideal would be to get some console ports out before the end of the year. Whether we can make that happen or not, I don't know," Watson told Digital Spy in a recent interview, specifically mentioning PS4 among whatever console releases Stoic might be targeting. "Some things are easier than others. I think the game would be great on Vita, but I think that would come after other consoles. It's a path of least resistance thing," he said.

Not a whole lot to on right now, but judging from Watson's comments, it sounds that The Banner Saga coming to consoles is probably a matter of "when," not "if" – Stoic is a small team, but putting this visually sumptuous game out on any console would be a very exciting move indeed. More as it develops.
