A 14-year-old girl was stabbed outside of a Bronx middle school in the midst of a fight yesterday.

According to NBC New York, the stabbing took place outside of IS 113 around 3 p.m. The unidentified victim reportedly sustained stab wounds to her back and torso during a fight with "several" other girls. A witness told the New York Post that a verbal confrontation "escalated," leaving the girl with severe injuries.

NBC New York adds that she was taken to Jacobi Hospital in serious condition, and it remains unclear if the aggressors are students at the school. Gothamist mentions that a Department of Education spokesperson said the incident was "a police matter" when prodded for information.

This comes almost a week after Timothy Crump, also 14, stabbed fatally stabbed a classmate outside of IS 117, also in the Bronx.
