Daniel Craig, Seth Meyers, Benicio Del Toro, Steve Carell, and other male celebrities joined a new PSA for the White House recently, in an attempt to help with the fight against sexual assault on college campuses. Vice President Joe Biden and President Obama lead the ad.
The ad was unveiled in a press conference yesterday. Before introducing the video, Biden stated, "No man has a right ever to raise his hand to a women period. It is assault if they do."
It's refreshing, for once, to see a PSA involving males telling other males not to assault women—too often in the media, the burden of fault is often placed on women for allowing themselves to be sexually assaulted (this is called victim-blaming), as opposed to putting the blame on those who actually deserve it: The assaulter.
"We almost always ask the wrong questions when it comes to sexual assault,” Biden continued at the press conference. “We continue to ask questions like ‘What were you wearing? What did you say? What did you?’” The real question is what made him think that he had the right to do what he did?" Damn straight.
