Former Bulletstorm devs (then part of People Can Fly) The Astronauts' debut game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will release for PC this Summer after a long gestation period, director Adrian Chmielarz has confirmed.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Chmielarz said that the game's release is just months away.

"We are going to have probably the worst possible release date, which is the middle of summer," he said during the interview. "It's hot and it's summer - do you really want to play a game about autumn?"

Ethan Carter does look rather autumnal, with wooded outdoors areas and what looks like crisp Fall air. The game follows a detective who has the ability to see the final moments of a victims life, a gruesome talent that will be used to gather clues to solve investigations and ultimately figure out what happened to the 12-year-old Ethan Carter. More importantly, this is an exploration-based game that Chmielarz has classified as "weird fiction" – and it does not contain combat.

If the talents of Former People Can Fly developers doing an exploration adventure game with no combat isn't great enough, Chmielarz has also said that if the game does well on PC they will immidiately start working on PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. While the exact release date of the game has yet to be revealed, it's great to know that Ethan Carter is coming soon.
