Star Wars fans with a soft spot for Rogue Squadron will be disappointed to learn that Disney has cancelled the series free-to-play space combat game Attack Squadrons to "focus on other Star Wars experiences."
Only up since December, Attack Squadrons let players choose from a number of classic Star Wars ships to pilot and dogfight against up to 16 players around the galaxy; though the game didn't even make it out of closed beta before being shuttered, initial plans were to include a number of famous franchise locations. How the sudden cancellation of the already offline game might affect studio Area 52 Games is unknown, though EA has a number of other Star Wars titles in the works.
