Nintendo has released a statement denying the rumor below. "I can confirm Nintendo is not revealing any hardware at this year's E3," reads a statement to VideoGamer.

Original post follows...

Nintendo, for the second year in a row, doesn't have a traditional media reveal planned for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) but sources are saying that despite the non-traditional presence the company might unveil a new generation of hardware this June.

First rumored back in January, Nintendo's supposed two-park console called Fusion DS and Fusion Terminal would go a long way to answering some of the company's woes. Sources further indicate that the Fusion will integrate the Wii U console with 3DS systems, having a slot for the handheld's games.

Industry sources say that after 17 months of terrible Wii U sales the company needs to cut loose the ailing console but be able to integrate the games from all its products into one place. The Fusion would solve that problem.

While these anonymous reports are pretty salty, Nintendo has been stepping up its game in trying to communicate its upcoming games clearly to fans in its own weird Nintendo style. So it's quite possible that this new sense of urgency within the company could result if faster updates.

What do you think? It may be too soon to ditch the Wii U, but would a replacement console that finally integrates Nintendo's mobile and console games appeal to you?
