According to a new poll by Quinnipiac University released May 25, a massive 83 percent of New Yorkers support legalizing marijuana for medical reasons. What's more, 62 percent are also cool with having dispensaries in their towns.

While those numbers may seem inevitable given America's recent swing toward "green" horticulture, politicians like Senator Chuck Schumer have thus far taken a "wait-and-see" approach to pot—medical or otherwise.

But with only a paltry 15 percent of New Yorkers now opposing prescription weed, it's getting harder and harder to maintain their position. Perhaps this new polling data will put pressure on officials to make marijuana available to those who legitimately need it.
