Famed New York City "Club Kid" Michael Alig, whose exploits were given the pop culture treatment in 2003's Party Monster, just got out of jail following a 17-year prison stint for murdering Andre "Angel" Melendez in March of 1996. Thanks to Bedford + Bowery, he tried his very first Cronut, an experience that left Alig in tears:

None

Alas, it wasn't the amazing taste of Dominique Ansel's sublime hybrid treat that made Alig sob, it was his remorse. "Obviously I want this, but I just don’t feel like I deserve it," he told Bedford + Bowery. "I mean, it would be horrible not to eat it, but I just feel so awful."

The hidden message for those who aren't in the know is that Cronuts have become this mythical, exalted dessert that people have to be worthy of.
