Harrison Ford is on the verge of a career renaissance, if he wants it. In addition to returning to his iconic role of Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, the veteran actor also has an offer on the table to return as Rick Deckard in Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner sequel. And today, Alcon Entertainment sent out a press release to ensure fans that the studio has every intention of bringing Ford back, but it’s up to the actor to agree or not.

In the press release, Alcon co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson had this to say: “We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project.”

Studios don’t normally put out press releases of this nature, but something like this can get the good will of the fans on your side. Even if Ford refuses the offer, Alcon comes out ahead simply because fans know that the studio at least tried to get the actor back.

There is no real timetable in place for Blade Runner 2, especially with Ridley Scott busy with other films like Prometheus 2, The Martian, and Exodus. It isn’t yet clear when, or if, Scott will even have time to direct the sequel. It will be interesting to see if the project even moves forward without Ford or Scott at the helm.
