The tale of Jesse Owens is one of the great sports stories in history, and now Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) wants to bring it to the big screen.

Mackie has teamed with Jamie Linden (We Are Marshall) to produce a biopic about Owens’ life, focusing on the buildup to the 1936 Olympics in Nazi-controlled Germany during which Owens won four gold medals.

According to Deadline, though, Mackie isn’t the only one in pursuit of an Owens project. Disney has The King’s Speech writer David Seidler working on an Owens biopic based on the book Triumph, and Stephen Hopkins is also directing an Owens movie starring Stephan James (Degrassi: The Next Generation).

Mackie reportedly wants to start filming later this year, so we could be seeing his version very soon.
