Xbox exclusive Titanfall received a blockbuster welcome on the Xbox One, but let's not forget that the Xbox 360 version is on its way, set to drop on April 8. Developer Bluepoint Games, who is working on the Xbox 360 port, says that while the first-person mech shooter will be the “true experience” of Titanfall it will run at "over" 30 frames per second (FPS) rather than the 60 FPS featured on the Xbox One.

According to senior producer Daryl Allison Bluepoint Games just wasn’t able to get the extra power out of the Xbox 360.

"Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is the true experience: all the maps, modes, pilots, titans, weapons, burn cards, you name it, found in the Xbox One and PC versions," Allison wrote. "The game looks great, sounds great, and above all it plays great. There are of course some technical differences that are due to the technical limitations of the hardware — for example, the game runs above 30fps — but rest assured, the intense 6v6 wall-running, titan dropping action is all there."

So why does frame rate matter? Lets recap in case you've forgotten just why frame rates in video games get so much attention.

Generally speaking the higher the FPS the more reactive the game will be. While the human eye really can't detect anything past 17-18 FPS the more frames that are added the smoother the film/game will look. It also reduces motion blur and in several studies researchers found that higher frame rates in first-person shooters specifically led to better performance and more enjoyability.

So will Titanfall at "over" 30FPS on the Xbox 360 deliver? Stay tuned for details before the April 8 release.
