The debut trailer for a new David Fincher film often has more hype around it than the release of most full movies, and Gone Girl has been no exception. Cinephiles from all walks of life have been starving to get their first look at Fincher’s latest for months now, and courtesy of JoBlo, you can check out the first trailer in the video player above.

Like most of Fincher’s trailers, the director has set the film’s imagery to a classic rock song. This time he uses Elvis Costello’s “She” to set the mood for the story. In Gone Girl, Ben Affleck plays a husband who is dealing with the disappearance of his wife, played by Rosamund Pike. He soon finds himself a suspect in his wife’s case, leading the media and his hometown to take a crusade against him. There isn't much here in the way of dialogue from the film, but the images should provide you with all you need to know.

Gone Girl is based on the book by Gillian Flynn, and it will hit theaters on October 3.
