Scientists have successfully injected cockroaches with drug-dispensing nanobots, making them a possibility to be the next generation guinea pig for scientists.

The project is lead by Daniel Levner of Harvard University's Wyss Institute and scientists at Bar Ilan University in Israel.

The DNA nanorobots interact with each other inside of the cockroach, making it perfect for drug dispensing trials.

“This is the first time that biological therapy has been able to match how a computer processor works,” Ido Bachelet from Bar Ilan University’s Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials told New Scientist in an interview. Next up? Adding the processing power of a Commodore 64.

According to Discovery News, cockroaches won't reject the nanobots when scientists go all Metal Gear Solid on them, so we may have them to thank for serious advances in the future.
