There’s a New Book Out About Apple CEO Tim Cook, and He Hates It

Haunted Empire: Apple After Steve Jobs is the new book out by ex-Wall Street Journal reporter Yukari Iwatani. The book aims to capture the newest chapter of Apple during the post-Steve Jobs era (hence Apple being “haunted” by Jobs' and his vision, which they are trying to live up to or exceed.) It’s a hefty feat for anyone to write about—especially considering how secretive Apple is about its products and aspirations—and Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, isn’t very happy with the final product.

In an official statement released by Cook, he called the book “nonsense.” Ouch.

This nonsense belongs with some of the other books I've read about Apple. It fails to capture Apple, Steve, or anyone else in the company. Apple has over 85,000 employees that come to work each day to do their best work, to create the world's best products, to put their mark in the universe and leave it better than they found it. This has been the heart of Apple from day one and will remain at the heart for decades to come. I am very confident about our future.

Of course, not everyone can be happy with how they’re portrayed in media. If you’d still like to check out the book, buy it here.
