"The Soup" Asks If You Can Actually Understand What Anyone Is Saying On "True Detective"

Subtitles needed.

At this point it’s been pretty much accepted that True Detective is one of the better dramas on television. But how much of what the characters are saying do you actually understand? Between the thick Southern accents on Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, plus the crazed rantings and ravings of their characters, it can be like watching two characters speak a completely different language at times.

Joel McHale and The Soup aren't letting this go unnoticed. In this parody video of the hit HBO drama, McHale dives into the indecipherable dialogue and ramblings of the show with a spot-on impression of McConaughey’s manic Rust Cohle character. It's basically indistinguishable from the real deal. Be sure to close your eyes while playing the video above to see if you can even tell the difference between the impression and McConaughey himself. After you're done watching, good luck ever seeing True Detective the same way again.
